Tom Lee Speaking at National Association of Ch. 13 Trustees Conference
On Thursday, July 27, 2023, Tom Lee will join a panel discussion regarding chapter 13 bankruptcy plans. Specifically, the panel will discuss obtaining plan confirmation when the plan proposes to sell property. Becket & Lee has a long history of attending the annual NACTT conferences and both Tom and Stu Cramer look forward to this year’s event in Austin, TX. Participating in these key industry events is just one way that Becket & Lee stays connected to the bankruptcy community, while also remaining up-to-date on the issues impacting our clients.

American College of Bankruptcy Inducts Alane Becket as Fellow
In March 2020, Alane Becket was formally inducted as a Fellow in the 31st Class of The American College of Bankruptcy. The College is “an honorary public service association of United States and international insolvency professionals … dedicated to enhancing professionalism, scholarship, and service in bankruptcy and insolvency law and practice”.
Membership to this prestigious organization is selective and invitation-only, with fellowship extended to professionals “based on a proven record of the highest standards of expertise, leadership, integrity, professionalism, scholarship, and service to the bankruptcy practice and to their communities.” Alane’s bankruptcy expertise and years of dedicated service to the profession culminated in this prestigious recognition.

New President of ABI: Alane Becket
Becket & Lee proudly announces Alane Becket as the new President of the American Bankruptcy Institute. Elected to the position in 2018, Alane began her term at the ABI's Annual Spring Meeting on April 13, 2019.
Primed with decades of experience and a long history of service with ABI, Alane hits the ground running in this challenging new role, including and especially shepherding the ABI's Report and Recommendations of the Commission on Consumer Bankruptcy through its inaugural year. Her friends, colleagues, and fellow members of the bankruptcy community eagerly anticipate an exciting year!

Alane Becket Recognized Among "20 Most Powerful Women in Collections"
Becket & Lee is proud to announce that Collection Advisor magazine recently named Alane Becket as one of the "20 Most Powerful Women in Collections". The September/October cover story notes that “of the 140,000 professionals in collections, nearly 70% are women.” The publisher spoke with Alane and 19 other successful women recognized as driving “positive waves of change that ripple through the industry.” Each of the 20 was asked two questions:
• What would you like people to get involved with to improve the collection industry?
• What new technology helped improve the collection industry in the past year?

Alane Becket Named President-Elect of the American Bankruptcy Institute
The Partners at Becket & Lee are proud to announce Alane Becket's appointment as President-Elect of the American Bankruptcy Institute. Alane was elected to the position at the ABI's Annual Spring Meeting, which took place in Washington D.C. this past April. Effective April 2019, Alane will transition to President.
Having served in a variety of capacities at the ABI, most recently as Vice President of Publications, this appointment is a culmination of her dedication to both the organization and the industry. Alane's expertise and decades of experience are unquestionable assets to the ABI, our firm, and our clients.

Alane Becket Elected as Chair of ABI Board in April 2021

At its Annual Spring Meeting, the American Bankruptcy Institute elected Alane Becket to a one-year term as Chair of its Board of Directors. The ABI is “the largest multi-disciplinary, non-partisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency” with a membership of over 10,000 insolvency professionals. Her position as Board Chair follows her Presidency in 2019. Alane’s continued leadership at the ABI exemplifies Becket & Lee’s deep industry engagement, including being at the forefront of bankruptcy analysis, legislation, and scholarship.
